Bryce Vine is a rapper and singer originally from New York City but later moved to and is based out of Los Angeles, California so his mother could pursue a career as an actress. Thanks to his father, Bryce was introduced to 90s R&B and convinced his mother to buy him a guitar at the age of 13, quickly teaching himself how to play. He’s been actively ‘doing/making’ music since 2010. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and adopted his stage name there (deciding on Vine because it was short for vinyl). In 2011 he was shortly on the Oxygen TV series, The Glee Project. He is heavily influenced by artists like J. Cole and Third Eye Blind - “intelligent and honest lyrics with an infections chorus” is very influential for him.

Over the years he has released six EPs and one studio album. His debut EP Lazy Fair (a play on the known French phrase “laissez-faire” and the name of his parents boat), was released in April of 2014.He released an acoustic version the following year. His debut album Carnival was released in July of 2019 and features singles “Drew Barrymore” and “La La Land.” His most recent release was single “SATURDAY NIGHT” that was released February 23rd, 2024.

As someone who was also born and raised in Los Angeles and then moved to Boston for an art college, I relate to a lot of the music that Bryce Vine has put out. It was also really nice to see the obvious influence and combination of both East coast and West coast sounds in one. His sound can be categorized as “genre-bending” with bass-heavy sounds and the “spirit of punk rock” and “pop sensibility.” Seeing his set with a live band joined so many elements and layers that really pulled all of his music together. It added an element of liveliness and excitement to the way he performed and interacted with the crowd. It was a cold and windy Sunday night, but the crowd showed up and made it feel like a “Saturday Night”. After a very long, stressful and tiring week, Bryce’s vibrant energy and exuberant music instantly lifted my mood and ended my week on a very high high. I excitedly wait for any of his upcoming music and tours he does in the future.
