Krooked Kings Rocked Denver. Proving That We Aren’t “All Out Of Good Days”

In the profoundly digital age we live in, finding new music is easier than ever before. But stumbling upon new music that is worthwhile with longevity is a more difficult task. The Salt Lake City indie-rockers Krooked Kings have done this not just once but a handful of times with heartfelt, earworm tracks that have amassed millions of well deserved streams. Smack dab between their SXSW showcases and a performance at Boise’s Treefort Music Fest, Krooked Kings arrived in Colorado to treat the state to three shows as they capped off the end of the "All Out Of Good Days” Tour. Show 2 of 3 was a packed Wednesday night party at Denver’s Larimer Lounge.

The Kings are no strangers to Colorado as they have played multiple shows in the state over the past few years, including opening for Goth Babe in Boulder. Although Salt Lake City is an 8 hour drive from Denver, Krooked Kings hit the stage with a feeling as if they were home town heroes. Kicking their set off with one of their most recent singles ‘Sick of Being Young’.

Prior to Krooked Kings hitting the stage, the concert was kicked off by Boulder Colorado natives, Mr. Mota. The funky, reggae inspired band got the room abuzz as they played through groovy tunes that would strike a chord with fans of reggae-rock bands such as Pepper just was well as any jam band enthusiast. The room fully alive for a Wednesday night show packed in tighter and tighter as Mr. Mota neared the end of their set. The crowd ready to sing and dance along with the Kings.

Krooked Kings have only played in Colorado a handful of times but the crowd connection paired with the energy surging from the stage into the venue made it feel as if they have played here a thousand times. The crowd was just as familiar and belting every lyric to songs from the groups 2021 release ‘The Comedown’ with the same enthusiasm as the bands latest release, the single ‘Coming of Age’.

The young group commanded the stage well, their energy not lost once as they made their way through the setlist. The ability to switch the energy up, diving in to the atmospheric and esoteric track ‘Carbon Monoxide’ (featuring Day Wave), before slowly ramping back up to more dance inspiring tracks is just one example of the wisdom that these young rockers possess. Wisdom and prowess aside, the songs Krooked Kings are creating are not good but great! Every track on the setlist as well as each album track and single released is as infectious as the last.

If you weren’t lucky enough to catch Krooked Kings on this tour, don’t fret. The group is joining Rodrigo Y Gabriela for a handful of dates this May. Nothing has been announced following those shows, but without a doubt this killer up and coming band will only be making their way to bigger and bigger stages.
