Jesse Kivel Announces New Album, ‘Life and Death at Party Rock’ Out November 10th

Jesse Kivel announces his new album, Life and Death at Party Rock, out November 10th Via New Feelings. Along with the album announcement comes the release of the lead single and accompanying music video for ‘I Sat on a Ridge’.

Through the albums 10 songs, Life and Death at Party Rock takes an unadorned exploration of fatherhood, partnership, and life in rural Maine. Setting layered electronic sounds aside, Kivel embraces the familiar with thrumming guitar, light horns, keys, and harmonica.

Influences from the new journey of fatherhood brings Kivel to introspectively explore themes of time and morality. Themes shift throughout the record, with ‘Overgrown Oceans’ exploring the idea of dying by a plane crash and 'Nepenthe’ diving into the pain of exiting youth. All for a sonic journey through forgiveness and surrender.

Produced by Joey Genetti, Life and Death at Party Rock also features performances from Sam Wilkes, Joseph Shabason, Kacey Johansing, Dylan Day, and Matt Popieluch.

Check out the stunning visuals of ‘I Sat on a Ridge’ below, directed by Irene Yadaeo. Filmed in Maine the video features members of the Colonial Maine Living History Association.
