EMMA KAUFFMAN

Classic rock’s modern-day savior is back with a new song! “When the Curtain Falls” was released on July 16thand is our first taste of the group’s debut full-length album. The group released From the Firesin 2017, a double EP that is said to favor the sound of the legendary Led Zeppelin. Memorable vocals and awe-inspiring guitar solos are second-nature to these guys; their musical talents pair amazingly well with their infectious energy onstage.

Frankenmuth, Michigan natives – and brothers – Josh (vocals), Jake (guitar), and Sam Kiszka (bass), and make up Greta Van Fleet alongside drummer Danny Wagner. Inspiration for their name is taken from one of their hometown elders, an 87-year old woman named Gretna Van Fleet. Lead singer Josh Kiszka stated in an interview with Huffington Post that the band took the “n” out of their name in an effort to simplify it, and it has stuck ever since.

They have received praise from the likes of Sir Elton John and Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant; even Justin Bieber has also been spotted backstage at one of their shows jamming out. Speaking of Elton John, he invited GVF to perform at his Academy Awards viewing party (which doubled as an Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser) this past spring. The group is on a mission to “spread peace, love, and unity,” so it’s a no-brainer that they would lend their talents to such a noteworthy cause.

The guys are finishing out the summer on a tour around the United States. Starting in late October, they’re taking their talents to Europe for a second leg of shows. Catch them live if you get the chance!

You can find GVF on Twitter and Instagram at @gretavanfleet.
