Wallows has always been one of those bands that I’ve had a deep appreciation for. Yet, seeing them live for the first time at Roadrunner in Boston re-sparked my admiration.
To start, the second this group walked on stage, they had immediately captured the audience’s attention just by their immense stage presence. Wallows consists of three people; Dylan Minnette (vocals & guitar), Braeden Remasters (guitar and & vocals), and Cole Preston (drums). Accompanied by three other musicians for the tour, one may think that it would be crowded on the stage with six people, yet Wallows proved that thought wrong. The six of them worked perfectly together in the space they were provided.
One of the highlights of their set was the lighting that they utilized throughout their whole performance. Somehow with the multiple lighting changes as well as having six people on stage, their performance didn’t once feel overwhelming or too chaotic. Their music had a perfect way of making everyone feel at peace and united with one another.
Of course, the music itself was the biggest highlight of their night. Wallows is one of those bands that I could even argue is better live than just listening to studio recordings. The immense talent that comes from each individual artist blends perfectly together in one solid unit. Their show is spectacular and if you get the chance to see them I wouldn’t pass up that opportunity.
